Family Vacations
Wednesday, February 16th, 2011
One of the best parts about running the river is the opportunity to see families come and be a part of the adventure. For several of the people who join us this is their first time to really experience nature up close and personal and for many that experience is profound. Our trips give families an opportunity to disconnect from cell phones, e-mail, ipods, tv, etc. and connect with each other as you run thrilling rapids, hike to stunning waterfalls, get into water fights on the raft, or just hang out at camp. For us it is a privilege to watch as new bonds are formed and memories that will last a life time are made. Come join us on a trip in the Grand Canyon, Cataract Canyon, or on the Salmon River to see for yourself why our trips are a perfect family vacation.

What is the best time of year to go on a Grand Canyon trip?
Thursday, February 3rd, 2011
“When is the best time to go?” is a question I get asked often when people are choosing a trip. The answer is that any time you are on the river will be a great time…you will be sure to enjoy thrilling rapids, spectacular scenery and delicious food no matter when you go. However, there are slight variations in temperature depending on which month you choose. In the April, May, & September tend to be a bit more moderate temperature-wise than the summer months and they can be a particularly nice time for the hiking and other off river activities you will do. As far as the water level is concerned in the Grand Canyon, since the water is released from Glen Canyon dam the water levels don’t have the same highs and lows that you will find on other rivers so no matter which month you go the water level and rapids will be fairly consistent. My best advice is to just choose a date that works for you and come join us because, no matter the month, it will be a trip of a lifetime!

What sets Tour West apart?
Tuesday, January 25th, 2011
As we talk to people who are in the beginning stages of choosing which river trip they want to take one of the questions we are often asked is, “What makes Tour West different from all the other rafting companies out there?” While we could mention many things from the quality of the equipment we provide to the design of our rafts we feel that the thing that makes Tour West truly different is the quality of guides we have working for us. The Tour West guides are knowledgeable, professional, and safe. On average our guides have 15 + years experience running rivers in the Grand Canyon, Cataract Canyon and on the Salmon. We have full confidence that not only will our guides safely navigate you through the rapids but along the way they will share the history and lore of river, lead you on hikes to breathtaking spots, and prepare you some of the tastiest meals you have ever eaten. The number one piece of feedback we get from those who have rafted with us is that the guides provided them with an experience that not only met their expectations but exceeded them and for this reason we are sure we have the best in the business working for us here at Tour West.

The Rim of the Grand Canyon
Wednesday, November 10th, 2010
We just spent three days on the rim of the Grand Canyon and it was beautiful. We really enjoyed our time there even though a lot of our time was in meetings. Millions of people visit the rim. I think everyone should see the canyon from the rim, but they should also experience the canyon from the river. It is just as beautiful. A unique experience. I hope everyone has the chance to experience the Grand Canyon from the river and from the rim!
